One Special Tiger: The Story of Zolushka

Under the direction of the Beast Relief committee, P.S. 107 fifth graders wrote and illustrated One Special Tiger: The Story of Zolushka, the true story of a Siberian tigress from Russia who was rescued by hunters, rehabilitated, and successfully released back into the wild. The year-long project was a collaboration between P.S. 107’s Beast Relief committee and the Wildlife Conservation Society. Copies are now available for pre-order! All proceeds from sale of the book will go directly to the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Siberian Tiger conservation program.

PS107 First Graders Share Their Love of Reading with Therapy Dogs

A group of first graders recently visited the neighborhood bookstore Powerhouse on 8th to read books about dogs to specially trained therapy dogs, who listened attentively while the children practiced their reading! The event, now in its third year, was organized by the PS107 Beast Relief Committee. Thanks to Powerhouse on 8th for welcoming the canine invasion and to the Good Dog Foundation for providing the dog teams. Brooklyn Paper covered the event; click here to read the story.
